I’ve recently reconnected with an old friend, Tom Kay (top pic, far right), via an article in Monocle magazine (as you do!). For your interest the article was about the company his behind Finisterre Technical Apparel based in the UK.

Anyway, back in 1994 Tom and I travelled to Chile with Operation Raleigh (now called Raleigh International). It has to be said that to this day it still stands as the most incredible experience of my life. It made me. Tom kindly reminded me of that by scanning in some pics from the trip – which I can’t thank him enough for.

Pictured; Chris Dyer (on the left in both pics), me with varying hair issues, and Tom.

As I write this I’m sleep deprived (due to my over active brain) in Sydney with a massive grin on my face, remembering Chile.

It was my birthday last week and as a surprise Rach flew me to Melbourne for MIFF.

MIFF stands for Melbourne international film festival. I forgot how much I love Melbourne. Intimate bars, incredible food and interesting individuals from all walks of life.

Didn’t do nearly enough, but we had a good go. Saw just two films in the end; Ben X, arresting film about bullying, autism and the strength of anonymous personas. Then there was Donkey Punch, lookup the meaning, everything goes ‘pete tong’ after the punch as twenty somethings deal with misadventure.

Ate amazing tapas at Mavida. Japanese at Chocolate Buddha and breaky in Block Arcade. Enjoyed Sofitel & views of the city. 36hrs with lots of memories.

(this is a first post from the iPhone Wordpess App, so will add links later)

Shortly after this, the Nordnorge appeared to turn such that all three cams were pointing away from the action. The Associated Press grabbed this image also and used it with their logo in the bottom right.

There are _some_ images from the cams before this, but they do not seem to have made it onto the wider newswires.
